Mark yourself safe from unemployment by proving the ROI of UX work.

how to prove the value of ux during layoffs

There’s been a lot of layoffs in tech recently. Does it have you rattled? Is it on your mind?

It’s frankly, always on my mind.

Mostly because when I was a fresh-faced Marketing Copywriter back in 2016 I was one of the first laid off due to the company going out of business and I am still traumatized by it.

It seems Copywriters, UX Writers, and other marketing professionals, are always the first to be let go. I think this is because the assumption that everyone can write and writers are a nice to have, but not a necessity. I do think times have changes slightly, especially in UX, however, it’s still a concern of mine.

So, let’s talk about what I’ve done to combat this feeling of impending doom since 2015 and how us UX professionals can make ourselves valuable and hopefully avoid being laid off in the future.
