Put a finger down edition.

Put a finger down if you submitted an invoice to a freelance client on August 29th.

Put a finger down if you submitted an invoice to a freelance client on August 29th and October 1 came and went and you still hadn’t gotten paid.

Put a finger down if you submitted an invoice to a freelance client on August 29th and it’s October 1 and you still haven’t gotten paid and when you followed up with accounts payable they told you they need your invoice in a PDF format.

Put a finger down if you’re annoyed that they had an entire month to tell you about the formatting issue yet couldn’t be bothered to tell you.

Sigh.

All my fingers are down, yours?

Other Freelancing Options

This whole scenario reminded me of why I don’t freelance often. If the work is due on a certain date, why shouldn’t payment also be due on the same date or a few days later?

Also, I was listening to a podcast about Brain Trust, a freelancing platform. Apparently, they allow freelancers to keep all of their earnings.

This isn’t a plug for Brain Trust, I truly want to know if you’ve used them before and how your experience has been.
