UpWork: Is Anyone Actually Getting Freelance Work?

The platform's many ch-ch-changes have been terrible for me.

Have you been on Upwork in the last two years and seen the changes?

Have you been on Upwork in the last two years, seen the changes, and actually gotten any work?

I sure haven’t!

Which is super disappointing because back in 2016 when I lost my first Copywriting job, I fully supported myself on the platform for months.

And, from 2016 until about 2022, I was getting very consistent gig work and supported myself through another unemployment phase in 2021.

The last time I was seriously looking for work on the platform was about 6 months ago and I applied to several jobs. Well, as many as the new connect system would allow me to which wasn’t many.

Overall, I find Upwork’s connect system unclear and unnecessary. What is the actual point of it other than what appears to be a money grab?

And even if it was a money grab, I could accept it as long as I was getting work.

But, it’s been CRICKETS.

The good news? Well, it seems I’m not the only one. A quick look at Upwork’s any of their LinkedIn posts and you can see platform users have similar sentiments.
